I believe the duratech was in the later year Rangers (04+) the early Rangers had the Lima. And yes I believe the Duratech is a Mazda design

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Isn't that Ford's Duratec 2.3, which is actually a Mazda engine? It's the same 2.3 as is used in late Rangers, right? And also an optional engine in the Focus from 2000 to about 2007? Somewhere on hear somebody said that it's actually a Mazda built engine.
The duratecs were based off the lima, and the E.B 4 cylinders are based off the duratec.

The only real similarity between the mazdaspeed motors and the E.Bs are block design, apparently.

It's actually Duratec (no "h"). I just checked Wikipedia, and it most definitely is. It's the Mazda "L" engine, it was designed by Mazda.

Actually, from what I just read on Wikipedia, the 2.3 Duratec is the Mazda L engine. It was designed by Mazda, and manufactured by Mazda, as a Mazda engine. Wikipedia says nothing about the Duratec 2.3 being based on the Lima 2.3.

The relation between the duratec and lima IIRC I learned about from @RonD Mabey? Someone who knows their crap on here anyways.. although it could of been mentioned by an ex ford engineer on the 5g website.. idk.. coulda swore it was a thing lol.
