I know this has been beat before but couldn't find the thread.

Ok I'm going to 4" spindle lift my 03 2WD Ranger Edge. I have a set of 17 x 8" rims but the truck cam with the stock 15 x 7" Aluminum ones

My question is it better to up size my wheel to the 17 x 8's with 285/70 17's AT tires
OR
Get a set of 15 x 8 with 33 x 12.50 AT's? which wheel size is better

Camburg Racings wheels are 15 x 8 with General AT 35 x 12.50 on them But I can't afford those so going with what I got.

Thanks, H-

It depends on what you are doing with the truck. For off road, I would go with the smaller rim because it gives you more side wall for flex and protecting the rim. If you are going for style and have no interest in going off road, the the bigger rim would be fine.

Thanks Sgtsandman That was a good analogy to use for the 15's for Function and 17's for Show. It'll be mostly a road truck, with some offroad over tones, ha. That's until I put a Dana 44in front and a Dana 60 in back

Hey Dirtman, like I told Sgtsandman It was a good analogy to use for the 15's for Function and 17's for Show. It'll be mostly a road truck, with some offroad over tones, ha. I'm building a few add-ons now for my "Loretta"

Deengineer until it is how Blue Oval should have sold it!!
Hapa1:

The only size wheel I like on a truck is 15". It lets the tire do so much more, after all the tire provides a large part of the suspension.
