have a question about reardifferentials, i have an open differential in my reanger(non-locking) i am looking for some advise on getting it changed out or adding some sort of locker. pros and cons, products to stay away from companies to avoid. im not looking for fully locked cuz im not a serious off roader but moderate jogs off the beaten path are a must. so any advice or direction would be helpfull.

Living in Florida, you may want to keep the open diff. A locking axle would make driving in the rain more hazardus. If you do decide to install some kind of locker. A SELECTABLE locker or one with clutches like come from the factory would be better for a street driven vehicle. Both of these types allow one wheel to spin in the rain on the hiway.
The positraction types (clutches) are the cheapest and easiest to keep running.

Check the Powertrax no slip diff. Lunch box locker spring pack that is engaged by torque. I do not have one YET! but have don some heavy searching and it seems to be the easiest install and a good bang for the buck.

In fact the powertrax is what I use.. HOWEVER it only unlocks when one wheel is coasting faster that the other.. ie. It is locked at all times. This locker is wonderful offroad.. but dangerous on slick streets. It'll put the vehicle in the ditch quick as a wink.

It is a cheap alternative to a positraction unit. But much more dangerous to yourself and others on the street.
