I swapped my ranger to the SSBC rear discs. The rear rotors are 10.5. I have a set of front rotors that are drilled and slotted. These are 11.22". My lift was just installed and they upgraded my front rotors to 12". Will I be able to use my existing 11.22" rotors in the rear as an upgrade?

Wow man, how much did that 3/4 inch cost? Did it really make any difference for braking?

My credo
Lead follow or get out of my way
Is this the Rough Country 5 inch lift... that requires 17 inch wheels?

As far as the upgrade to the rear brake bigger rotors... it will most likely depend on the caliper brackets.

I forgot how much it cost to snag the conversion kit. I bought new rotors n pads before I had the lift put on. The shop upgraded to 12s per the suggestion from Rough Cuntry. I now have a set of drilled and slotted rotors with no purpose, unless I can repurpose them for the rear. I also did not have to swap the proportioning vlv, as was also suggested. My brakes are killer at the moment.

Gump, correct, sir. RC does specify 17" wheels, but my 16s cleared with no problem. Once I get 500 miles on the lift, I will drag the ranger back into the installer and they'll retorque everything. After that, I'll put the 2" spacers back on. The shop did replace my calipers bc one had a cracked mount. Maybe they chose to upgrade at that point.

The brake systems I've seen on the Rangers and Explorers that have disc brakes will not support using front disc rotors on the back. The rear brakes on the Rangers and Explorers use the center hat as a drum brake for the parking brake system. Even if all that were to work, the width of the rotor will be too wide for the rear brake caliper to fit over. The 2010 and 2011 Rangers, while using vented rotors, are still narrower than the front rotors. The Explorer rear discs that I've seen aren't even vented. Just a 1/4' - 3/8" solid disc.

I can't say if a Mustang brake conversion will support them or not. I suspect they would not.

Without knowing exactly which kit you have, we cannot answer the question. It will depend on two things: if the caliper brackets will allow you to mount the calipers outboard about another 3/8" to clear the larger discs, and if the caliper opens wide enough to accept the thickness of the (formerly) front rotors. Most likely the answer will be "no".

@jerkyboyxiii : The height (distance from mounting face to outside of rotor - kind of equivalent to wheel backspacing) of Mustang rotors is ~2". The height of your front rotors is almost 2-5/8" (2.600). I don't think spacing caliper off 5/8" is worth the extra braking (not exactly safe).
