Seriously, do you have state emissions? Is it a tail pipe test or visual?

Get a test flow "cat" if visual, tail pipe you will have to get a cat. If nothing cut that junk out.

Grind the flange off and band clap it.

No we dont have any inspections.

I already got the flange leak at the cat fixed.

Im gonna get to the manifold this next week, if it still does it rest assured ill deal with the cat in the most logical way possible.

By replacing it with an OEM 50 state C.A.R.B certified replacement for $1,000 dollars?

Not at all! For 500% more cost you get a peice of paper that says you can use it in California! Well worth the money.

Im just trying to keep the do gooders away....you guys know me and you know exactly what im going to do with that cat.

I dropped it off at my mechanic today. Ill gladly give him 100 bucks to drill exhaust studs outta the manifold.

Once thats fixed ill "fix" the cat.

Oh and since my F250 is loaded with junk from the barn i havent hauled off yet...i commondeered my dads 01 town and country with 358,000 miles. It makes rusty 2.0 seem like a new truck.

Actually after some googleing it doesnt seem to uncommon for the 3.3/3.8L engines (his is a 3.8), damn thing still has some giddy up to. It can outrun its own cloud of blue smoke.

Shit even the trans shifts good.

Whats more impressive is i know its been overheated numerous times, and his oij change interval is usually 15-20k on cheapo quick lube oil and filters.

The leak wasnt there the 1st time i did it...just the blown out converter gasket right infront of the cat :) lol.

Either way anyone know off hand what size the ypipe is? The pipe is fine its just the flange is rotted in half. Gonna try my luck with a split flange. I think its 2 inch but not sure.
Yep. 2" OD before and after the cat. I just checked.

Well i got the manifold leak fixed...and wow i didnt realize what an effect those can have on EFI electronics. It runs alot smoother, idles better, and seems to have more giddyup.

Havent got it on the freeway yet but i still smell rotten eggs sometimes at idle

Yep computers aren't great at guessing and when half your exhaust is being dumped before the 02 sensor can read it, thats exactly what happens...

My after-cat gasket goes out occasionally, and sometimes it takes me a while to crawl under the truck and fix it (it makes it sound like I have custom exhaust, which, in a way, at that point I do :)). Maybe it's just the lack of noise, but it seems to run better/smoother after fixing the leak. I wouldn't have thought that an exhaust leak after the lightened cat would affect the performance, but it does.
