I have a kicker cvt 10" sub and i was trying to figure out if it would hit harder if i ported my box. i built a 13"x 10" box out of wood and it sounds/ hits good but if i ported it would it hit harder?

You can't just put a hole in a box, and call it ported. You have to rebuild your box. With the size specs for the sub and the right port size and lenth of the port. They can be found on line. But ported boxes are larger then sealed boxes

x2, and off the same amount of power ported will be louder if built correctly

heres what kicker recomends for a 10" cvt:
sealed - .8-3.0 cf
ported - 1.25-1.75cf(without taking into acount port volume)

you said you had it in a 10x13 enclosure. im assuming 13 is the height and 10 is the width. you didnt give a depth so im just going to assume its 10 as well. if you used 3/4 mdf, that enclosure would be .48cf. only half of what kicker recomends.

heres a box calculator
http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp
go down to the rectangular volume calculators

good luck

How much difference would it make if it had a bigger box? will it sound better?

if the box has to much air the sub becomes more prone to bottom out from not having enough resistance to fight it. it also doesnt make as tight of a sound. if the box is too small it does the oposite it will prematuraly push back up because it cant compress the air in the box to allow full movment. a ported box is different durring up movement the sub draws air into the box and as it slamms back down forces that extra air back out of the box but this is why the port needs to be tunned to work properly. again thou too much airspace and the sub cant fill the box too little and it cant push it out fast enough.

there are technical terms for most of this and i know but i tried to keep it simple so everyone could understand.
