My credo
Work Smarter not Harder
'99 XLT with 2WABS, RWD, check engine light is on with occasional ABS. Speedometer still works but code is for vehicle speed sensor input. The ABS tone ring is fine, the wires all traced through leading to the PCM are not damaged, but after looking through some diagrams, it looks like the only failure point left is the GEM. It's weird, the wires go from pink/red and LtGreen/black to a grey/black wire leading to the GEM, which then goes to the PCM. Any ideas?

Did you find the culprit? My '99 XLT RABS has the ABS light and no Speedometer. I ended up replacing the VSS on the rear differential and that fixed the ABS issue. Will be testing the Speedometer tonight but as the VSS supports both functions I expect it'll be good to go as well.
