Ok so wtf... not only do these injectors not use a pintle cap, but they obviously dont use a filter either? I ordered the rebuild kit and the O-rings are right but it also came with the baskets yet... low and behold, there aint no filter baskets on these things? Is this normal? Never seen injectors like these before.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
The people who put pintle caps and filters in the injectors were on vacation the day yours were made.

sorry

I can see the design of these wouldn't need a pintle cap but i would still think they would have the filters in them!

If it ain't broke, break it.
If you don't have filters, they can't get plugged up.

But then the 4 holes at the end can. :ROFLMAO:

Whatever, I threw them in the ultrasonic, fired them while shooting some carb cleaner through em and put the new o rings on. Oh well... anyone want some random filter baskets that go to nothing?

Filters just collect dirt... I would much rather the dirt gets out of the system instead of staying in there. You don’t want dirt in there!!

But these are 4 hole injectors, the holes are like .00005 of an inch. Any dirt is gonna clog one of those holes and stop fuel flow, where the filter basket could stop that material first and not really effect performance until they get really bad.

Does your truck even have a fuel filter? Most of the newer Fords have a “lifetime” filter in the tank.

Not that new. Still has a fuel filter on the rail. I change that thing all the time because amazon keeps having deals on them for like 4 dollars for a motorcraft filter. Takes 30 seconds to change so I do it practically every other oil change.

I do the same with transmission fluid. I put a drain on the pan so every other oil change I swap out 4 quarts. That transmission is on borrowed time so I do what I can to keep it going. When it finally goes boom i have a m5od in the shed.

well, not to be devil's advocate here but at least you have the big spin-on fuel filter. I'm still on this early 2.3l dinky canister filter. Last time i checked filter on the 90 ranger i used to have it still looked new. Never had injector problems. Every time i check this damn canister, the filter is dirty.

Then again, I'm not gonna say Ford's engineers went all el cheapo on you, but....

Crossed threads are tight threads.
They assumed you were going to re use your old filters
