I just joined and haven't gone over all the Archives yet, so maybe you'll allow this question.
I used the Big LF1 oil filters on my 99 ~ 4.0 ( OHV) Ranger. Can it be used on the 07 (OHC) 4.0 too???
Thanks alot.

All of the OHV's used the FL1A and the SOHC's use the FL820S

RE:

Thanks, I was hoping the mounting surface on the block was the same, so I could use the remote filter plate to put duel filters up on the fender well. Is there a long version of the 820s~820L maybe? Thanks, I've always had a hang up about expanding oil and filters. Oh, and extra ground straps for good charging systems. Thanks Dickey

OK, I found out what I wanted. The differance between the Fl 1 and the FL 820 is the 1/2" oil tube bolt coming out of the block. The 820 is a tad bigger in diameter then the older FL 1. Will not fit.

if you use a remote oil filter adaptor you can run any filter you want...but why in the world would you want to waste your money on dual oil filters on an automotive engine?

Because I don't waste my $$ on 33 " tires and such, I waste it where I want it, in the oil and cooling system.

i wasnt suggesting you waste money on tires...my point is that nothing will be accomplished by dual filters. if you want to improve your oil and cooling systems, an engine oil cooler (perhaps with a thermostatically controlled e-fan) and a two-row radiator are where i'd start.

EDIT: i also wanted to add that some of the older SOHC motors used the 1A. not 100% sure when they finally switched to the 820.

I didn't mean to get uptight, I have the twin filter left over from a previous Ranger and wanted to use it on the 07. I didn't make myself clear in the other post that I already had the combo and wanted to use it. Sorry.

its still going to cost you twice as much to replace 2 filters every oil change...but if you really want to install this thing then have at it. you could get a universal remove adaptor kit and it will include several different block adaptors that would allow you to use your dual filter setup.
