Whats up everyone, I am new here but long time in the scene. I picked up an 88 GT yesterday and will be modding it quite a bit over the next few months and then driving it more regularly. I had an 86 new and lowered and did all the normal stuff way back in the early 90s, and have modded every vehicle since. My daily now is a 2011 F350 dually dropped on 24"s and makes about 700 hp, so a ranger is quite a change. The ranger is getting lowered a bunch, wheels, tires and full interior redo as it is showing age. Next will be paint and body and I have a turbo couple engine and trans I can swap in but dont know what I need to know for that.
Look forward to learning from you guys;

2.9 is an absolute animal with a turbo and tuning. Even on stock guts they're capable of insane rwhp with boost.

Euro boys push them above 14psi on stock pistons.

Weak link in the bottom end are the rod bolts. Arp kit is $60 and fixes the problem.

Only weak link in the engine aside from rod bolts are casting residues that can cause head failures.

Factory cams are soft. Melling stock grind (good for boost) is $80.

Keep talking, I like where you are taking this.....hahaha. Id prefer to boost the stock motor versus a big swap that may not be a big gain. What is that motor know as so I can search?

2.9 cologne. Should be what you have, just with the dumb truck intake on it.

Yes, the twin throttle body intake is a massive improvement lol.

I have a few non boosted videos on my build thread.
