My fuel pump just went out on my truck. I believe it is the original one (truck is a 1991). I was wondering what brand fuel pumps you have had luck with. I have heard to many stories where the fuel pump stops working shortly after 12 months of use and would like my new pump to not be among those. Also Ii remember someone posting on here that you can have the oem fuel pump rebuilt but I can’t seem to find that forum.

Thanks in advance.

Since the original went that long I'd try to find a motorcraft replacement unless they are cost-prohibitive. We have a local parts store here that sells factory stuff way cheaper than the stealership so I often go there. More pricey than a regular parts store but factory parts... I have an account there so a nice discount too. I can check on this 4 U if you want.

I called the local dealer and they are asking $414 for a fuel pump I guess they are pretty proud of their fuel pumps

Is the oem part store you buy from a local store or is it a chian store?
I checked napa, autozone, and advance auto, and none of them sell motorcraft. rockauto.com has motorcraft, but they are still asking $300 for them.

Has anyone had any luck with other brands, such as bosch, delphi, ect?

I would look for a Airtex a.k.a. "Master" branded fuel pump, USA made.. I believe AutoZone carries it (IMO the only two things I get at AutoCrap, fuel pumps and brake pads)

The company makes excellent mechanical fuel pumps, (the diaphragms were so good that they even had a "unconditional warranty" a long time ago!) as all my trucks have them.... also my Father works there, been there for many years, good product, but I would not want to work there!

It is a small chain based out of san antonio TX called "full service". I just checked, the pump is $383 for extended cab and $360 for reg cab. With my discount it is $320 and $308 respectively... Way more expensive than I thought!
