Hi all. I'm a new member from Yuma, Arizona. Huge Ford guy and I currently have a 2004 Ranger with the 4.0 SOHC, 5 speed and 4x4. Previously I have owned a 98 3.0 auto and a 99 3.0 auto both RWD. Learned to drive stick in my buddies 92 2.3l 4x4. I also own a 62 Ford Fairlane 500 221 v8 auto, and 87 Mustang convertible with the 2.3l and a 5 speed. I also have a 1924 Model T touring that looks like a pile of scrap metal but was a complete car at one point 😅 I hope to learn more about these trucks on this forum and maybe someday have enough knowledge to give something back.

Thank you kindly! I always favored older vehicles to new. Not saying that I don't like new cars but I prefer vehicles I can work on myself so my stable stays consistently full of cars that are pre 2000... I made an exception for my 04 because it was too nice to pass up!

Yes. It's anemic but a very stout little engine. It's been running for years and has given me less trouble than all my other cars combined. I actually bought a 289 out of a mustang a few years ago to replace it if it dies, but it simply won't die...

221 will have 5 bellhousing bolts, only a very early 289 may match that.

Yes. I actually have another rare oddity in my possession... A 5 bolt C4 bellhousing. Currently running a C4 behind the 221 but if/when I go to the 289, I can just change the bellhousing lol. Tranny is out of a 69 mustang but I kept the Ford-O-Matic as well... It just sucked.

Welcome from another member who is also in Yuma AZ. I am a big Ford fan and love working on older vehicles, probably because I'm old myself. Anyway, I would really like to talk to any local Ford guys as I have 2 Ford engines I'm working on, one is a small block 302 that I plan to swap into my 1993 ranger and the other is a big block that I want to install in my 1995 F-350 4X4. Again, welcome aboard, hope to hear more from you and what you are doing to your vehicles.
