Hi does anyone know the part #s I need for my 1993 Ford Ranger 4x4 XLT SC 4.0L with the Auto Hubs. I need a grease seal and the inner and outer bearings. I just need one set for the front left side. I'll be replacing my front rotor on one side only. So I'll need the part numbers for 2 Bearings and a Grease Seal,,, Do I need one grease seal or 2 for one side only? Thanks

Are the inner and outer bearings both the same part #, or are they different sizes?

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Rock Auto makes it easy to find those numbers. I would recommend SKF or Timken or National brands. You need to know if you have a Dana 28 or Dana 35 axle. I’m pretty sure that with a 4.0l you have the Dana35. Only one seal needed per side. The hub assembly forms the outer seal.

They are often a great starting point in a search for parts. Once you have part numbers, check prices at 2 or 3 places to get the best deal.

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.

Good advice, and that's exactly how I shop for my parts.

To add to that, when you're getting pricing at RockAuto, it's best to put the parts in a cart, and punch in your ZIP to check shipping costs. RA seems to do a lot of shipping direct from their vendors, and multiple part orders will usually have multiple shipping costs.

In looking at the real cost "shipped", a lot of times the shipping on RA parts makes it better for me to buy over the counter locally.

I'm fairly certain the inner and outer bearings are the same

be sure to douse the outer portion of the hubs with automatic transmission fluid, spin them a bit to ensure good coverage, then dump any excess in your recycle bin

I use one of the spring clips on each hub, just in case you get stuck having any kind of shop get ahold of it, keeps some nitwit from getting all confused if it falls off, they're not too hard to back out a couple turns with two small pocket screwdrivers, then finish backing it out holding a folded paper towel to grip it with

I just found the parts I needed. 2 bearings both inner and outer are the exact same bearings. $14 each on Amazon Part # A-37. The Grease seal is $5 bucks, Temko part # 4250. Appreciate everyone's responses. Thanks

That's exactly what I did. Amazon was the best price.

You will typically need one grease seal per side for your vehicle. Here are the part numbers you might need for your 1993 Ford Ranger 4x4 XLT SC 4.0L with automatic hubs (information based on standard options and may vary depending on your specific vehicle):
  • Inner Bearing: Timken LM55449 ($16.29)
  • Outer Bearing: Timken LM55450 ($18.49)
  • Grease Seal: National 472423 ($7.43)
Or you can check other online bearings stores like eBay, TBS-Bearings, Amazon
