It is a 3.0 auto truck and the 3.0 is bad. I searched and couldn't find a engine that I could afford with under 200k miles within a reasonable distance. I spent $500 on the truck. So what to do then...... I searched for a v8 Explorer and couldn't locate one within driving distance so I started looking into a 4.0 swap and come across this

It is an 02 4.0 and I have $430 in it delivered to my house. I hope the 4.0 swap is pretty straight forward due to being close in years and same body style. I went with a whole parts truck due to needing other parts also like mirrors and gas tank (previous owner drilled a hole in the tank) and a few other odds and ends. the only other engine size swap involving fuel injection was on a 95 merc cougar took a 3.8 out and installed a 4.6 hope I don't have an issue with the pats system. wish me luck
