This is a weird area. They had water lines, but don't allow new hookups due to the age and condition of the existing system. You have to have (2) acres to drill a well. This is more like a 1/4 acre. That's why I'm thinking that this is a water storage tank. You can see the white pipe running to it.

I'm not interested in this property, but I am interested in some of the empty lots in the area. I'm just wondering how people are getting water.

Big black tank... above ground... in Texas... who needs a water heater?

Back in the olden days the well pumped water into a cistern which held it for household demand... but that was all underground and the water was usually very cold (which when combined with no light helped keep stuff from growing in it)

In the summer I don't turn on the hot water tank in my camper. I generally take my shower around noon or 1pm. The water is so hot coming through the water hose that I use the water in my 6-gallon hot water tank for cool water, and the cold water for hot water. I know, sounds confusing. If I need to shower early, or I'm going out late at night, I turn on the water tank. It only takes about 10-minutes to heat the water. Turn on the hot water in the morning and take a shower in the early afternoon, and you're taking a scolding shower with no cool water.

you do realize that many of our members have the exact opposite situation, right?

Still wish I could have gotten this 40'x40' pole garage on .29 acres. Owner wants $59,900. Realtor and mortgage broker both thought the property was worth $40k-$45k. My last offer was $50K.

See the big square section to the left of the front door? That's a big sliding door that slides past the front door. You could drive a really tall ford ranger through that door!

This is a true pole building with a concrete floor. There's no beams. It's literally metal poles that make up the structure. It's actually in really nice shape, but the breaker box is outdated and could use some electrical work. Garage door on the right has an opener, but don't know if it works. The power has been shut off for some time.

I'm not sure if it was mentioned or not But if you have a concrete floor having heat in the floor itself would be the best option. Think about a shop and how cold the floors get over the winter, well maybe not so much in Texas but further north its an issue, and having the concrete heat up will keep the building warmer and a more stable temp than say forced hot air. Local shops that are newer have done this because it is a much nicer work environment.

I need to run refrigerant lines in my driveway. That might keep the temperature down below “Holy *^#>€%€* ! That’s hot!”

When I lived about 3 miles form the Florida line we used heat during the winter, albeit not much for me being from the north I found it more or less comfy down there in the winter. The issue with cooling the floor is that cold sinks where as heat rises. The AC should be coming down from the celling but heat from the floor.

The joys of house hunting. Here we have a bedroom closet that's been turned in to a bathroom with no door. They framed in a closet in the corner of the room. I don't know why someone thought this was a good idea.

They put a washer and dryer hookup in the closet of the other bedroom. There's no vent going outside to vent the dryer.

I've seen some weird shit in Texas.
