so ive been doing a bit of research lately for motor swap info but cant seem to find anything talking about newer rangers.

ive got a 2000 xlt 3.0 and looking to swap for a 99 or 2000 explorer 5.0 with trany, local salvage yard told me aproximatly $1300 for ecm motor trans and engine harness.

my first question is, am i going to run into problems with the engine not starting because of the PATS sys, chipped ignitions?

second question is that too much to pay for part that are seemingly everywere?

Im just trying to get as much knowledge on this swap as i can before i start collecting parts.

Are you pulling it. Also check state laws some make you have a motor from the same year or newer.

i wont be pulling the donor motor, getting that from a salvage yard, as for state laws im in missouri so shouldnt be an issue.

Were can i find what i will have to do as far as wiring, is this combo plug n play or am i going to run into repinning connectors?
whats with the connector under the brake master cylinder? read somthing about having some issues there but not clear on the fix?
