motor swap info

i got an 87 ranger w/the 2.0L motor w/the 5speed trans & it has no power.what motor can i put in it that would be easy & not have to mod. a bunch of things?ty

Well, what are you looking to do with the truck? Is it a 4x4? Off roader? Or street 2wd?

Good candidates are the 2.3, 2.3 Turbo and maybe even a 4.0.

its a 2wd street truck.its my everyday driver so i want something that gets good mpg but w/good power.i was looking at the 2.8L.idk much about fords.ty for all the help

A 2.8, 2.9 and 4.0 have a different bellhousing patern then a 2.0 or 2.3. If you want power and good MPG's , a Turboed 2.3 is the way to go.

hey thank u so much but i think what im going to do is fine a 2.3L block n rebuild the head from my 2.0 n put it on the 2.3 block.unless its not that hard or cost to much to go from a carb motor to fuel inj.
