The MAP sensor does do a lot of everything on speed density, that or the hose leading to it wouldn't be a bad thing to look at...

I'm pretty sure I still have the stock ECM from my '90 around that should interchange with yours (was built in '89), haven't used it in over a decade...

If it looks like I need to go that route I will get with you!!

well it ended up being a MAP sensor… baught one from advanced and it fired right up and tan like a sewing machine. No misses, no fowl smells, no bogging down and falling in its face. Truck runs better now then it has the whole time I’ve had it lol thanks for all the help

Good to know, I should probably get one for my turbo engine, it would explain some things... , on mine I'm using the original MAP sensor as the BARO sensor as they're the same and it's nicely mounted in the cowl on the '89-90's

I replaced my IAC with an aftermarket part and it was DOA. Replaced it again with a Motorcraft unit and it worked perfectly, and solved the problem. This was about 3 years/3k miles ago (I don't drive the ranger much).

Yea ford has discontinued the part so unless I searched high and low I had to go AM. And once the truck started to run with the new MAP it was clear that the new iac wasn’t a dud but oh well. It’s there now. May put the other two I have back in sometime to see if they work just for fun
