I'll have to get some pics of my setups....
My F-150 I just have a CB temporarily attached to the roof above the rearview. Not sure if I'm going to stick with the Radioshack I bought half of forever ago in it or put the big Uniden I have sitting in the garage in there. I have a 4' center load steel whip (Hustler) attached to the ladder rack right behind the cab.
My choptop sports a Cobra which is now hanging from the roll cage (I used muffler clamps to do it, laugh, but it worked out nicely) and a 102" steel whip attached to the top bar of the spare tire carrier. (and yes, it dings off low hanging traffic lights, lol).
My Ranger has the cleanest install for a CB that I've done. I stuck a little Radioshack (back when I got those, I got a pair of 'em) in the dash with the HU. My stock HU died a couple times and when it finally got out of warranty and they refused to replace it, I got a kit and a nice Pioneer HU and got to work fitting it together. I quickly discovered that I had just enough extra space to squeeze the CB in so with a little careful trimming I got it to fit. Then I opened up the CB, disconnected the speaker and wired in a jack so I could plug in an external speaker. Worked out pretty nice. Started out with a cheap mag mount antenna, then went to a 3' firestick fiberglass.
And yes, I have been considering adding a HAM to the collection at some point.
