A few nights ago I went to a poker tournament to raise money for a local band so they can record their next album. While there I met quite a few interesting people, and people that I have already met previous at past shows. It was an epic night, came in second in poker, went pub hopping, hung out with the Nix Dicksons cute basest, all is good. I love hearing new stuff, post a link if you have one you would like to share. So the question is now asked, who is into indie music and what bands are you diggin' right now? My tops are:
The Nix Dicksons, I am supposed to be doing a photo shoot for them sometime, times are still being worked out. These guys are very fun and very amusing on stage. Their last CD release party was in the theme of a child's birthday party, balloons, bubbles, party hats, chocolate milk fountain, quite the show.

The Lions, I met these guys in Banff a few months ago, not as much energy as the Nix Dicksons but they have their energy in other areas, a band that you should check out if you get the chance, I've seen them a few times and I have never been disappointed, and their latest cd is amazing.

and the very recent Black Phoenix Orchestra. When I first saw them they had only played 4 times previous with each other, when I saw them, it was their first show. Darren, the lead, is the previous guitarist from the Lions. This is a band that is just there to have fun and do what they want to do.

Paige Woodbury, she has one of the best voices I have ever heard. After she lost at poker, and then lost after she bought back in, she plugged her guitar in and played a couple songs, within the first few notes, she had everyone turned around and watching, nothing else was done, everything else was on hold until she was done. She is very talented.
