I seem to be having the darndest time trying to figure out my exhaust repair. I've been running with a temporary fix that still manages to leave a larger leak than I'd rather. Not that I want a leak. So I ordered what I thought were the right parts. The OD of both is, as you can see, the same. This doesn't seem right to me. It seems as though one should fit inside the other. Now, I'm perfectly willing to be wrong about it being wrong. Any help would be appreciated, like what parts I should have to make this work. (This, of course, between the cat and muffler)

Yes thats wrong. Those are two different diameter pipes, the male end up the bell flare should fit perfectly inside the female side of the bell flare. The flanges then crush them to a sealed fit. They are either labeled wrong for the diameter, or you need to get a larger female side, or smaller male side.

Yeah it looks like you have two different diameter pipes. Like one is for 3" and one is for 2.5" or something.

on 2000 ish Rangers the OD of the pipe is different on each side of the ball joint.
so,, if you get a ball & socket based on pipe size it will be a mismatch.
in addition to matching ball & socket you'll need a reducer, or enlarger if it's backwards.

41723 is for 2.5" pipe and 41724 is for 2" pipe, I just looked it up. Ordered or received the wrong parts.

I have to ask.......where in Canada are you & why would you settle for rustable aluminized piping?

Therein lies the problem. I bought the pieces based on those dimensions.

Now I'm not sure which piece to get another one for, and exactly what size I should get. Both ends up the existing pipe are, of course, rusted. I probably could replace one side. It will seat the gasket then it is now, which is the gasket between the ends as they are.

I don't plan on keeping the vehicle long-term. I'd like something that isn't a standard cab. I mean, I like the truck but I want more space.
