I still have mine connected I hate the smell of fuel in the engine bay. I just put a vacuum restrictor from manifold vacuum to the solenoids and wired the solenoids to key on hot. It gets constant vacuum to the cannister with the key on and when off the vent solenoid for the float bowl opens up so the carb vents into the cannister.

You need a 1.08 or smaller you will not get the cfm you need to mix the fuel properly with the larger venturi. I put #43 jets in a 1.08 and he runs like a champ and am getting 18-20 mpg hwy. The .121 or larger is for a V-8 I tried it and performance sucks along with fuel mileage.

I put the #43 jets in mine and works great I imagine you have the #50s you will gain HP and mileage with putting in smaller jets.

I got rid of my charcoal canister and didn't notice a gas smell. Good luck on the swap, you will be much happier when its done :icon_thumby:

Look for a late 70s Capri, Mustang II or Pinto with a 2.8 for the carb also a F100 with a two barrel 302.
