My credo
Crossed threads are tight threads.
I just read 9 pages of this thread and NOT A SINGLE EV REVUE. WTAF :icon_confused:
I reviewed my buddys Tesla Plaid S early in the thread.
Besides the title says Test drive EV's, not review em 😁

This is kinda my point.. instead of a single "gear" and needing to spin its motor/s at 15k rpm or whatever they spin to do 70mph.. why wouldn't the addition of more gears to bring cruising rpm down help?
Lugging an electric motor doesn't really save juice.

Lots of heavy things actually use electric motors as a transmission instead of gears. Battleships, aircraft carriers, submarines, locomotives etc.

Spinning gears just adds more drag, complexity and expense.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
It really depends a lot on the design of the electric motor. There are many designs and many newer technologies involved. And, with these motors, the motor is not the whole equation. The electronic package that controls or "drives" the motor is a major advancement. It's amazing what we can do with AC motors these days. And, yes, these are AC motors. You wouldn't get the service, control and compact size of these motors with DC technology.

Theres a show called vintage voltage where they convert old cars to EV's using kits. They just bolt it to the transmission with custom adapter plate...and mentioned they just leave in 2nd gear to drive.
Hey, look, crimes against autos....

So, PJ, what electric vehicles have you tested so far? What are your thoughts and opinions on each one, based on your test drive?

Things should be settled down by Thursday... should schedule one for Friday, eh?

Our “official TRS EV tester” hasn’t test driven any EVs… this sounds like a government job.

A) You are NOT the "official TRS EV tester" guy.
2) That's only one per 9 pages
Lastly, now it's 10 pages.

I signed up to get the Ram EV, but I'm nervous about towing. Hoping to replace my daily car and the truck with it

If like other offerings... whatever you are towing will probably tow it better.

Towing is brutal on EV trucks, especially if it’s cold

Do your research lol. Chances are youll cancel the order and buy a hemi or cummins.

The lightning loses massive amounts of range under anything even remotly heavy
