Morning everyone. Little background on me. I retired from the navy back in Jan of ‘01. While serving I was a Machinist Mate (ship’s mechanic and miracle worker). Prior to the navy I was a union pipe fitter.
Post military my life has been made up of dealing with the VA and trying to move my household goods from Norfolk Va to a small town outside of Little Rock AR.
Now for the vehicle background, I have in my possession a ‘90 Ranger SuperCab 2.9 manual (more on that) 2wd with 53k original miles. It has been parked for 20 yrs with a bad transmission. The body is in perfect shape and the interior has minor sun damage as it was parked amongst trees on my family property. It has dual tanks with bedside factory looking fillers that I will have to figure out what is going on there. Whoever did the work there appears to have done an excellent job with the bodywork integration as it looks factory on the bedside. I don’t think they were ever offered with dual tanks so again will have to research that.

Dang.... lost most of my post.

I know the first gen Rangers with a long bed could be had with dual tanks.

As the truck is in AR and I’m currently in VA I can’t go out and measure, bed length but didn’t the super cabs only come with shortbed? If so there may have been a frame lengthen that occurred at one point and time by PPO. I say PPO (previous previous owner) because my grandfather bought the truck 20 yrs ago, blew the transmission driving it home and there it has sat ever since.

I hope to have it all up and running by next summer. I have an Isuzu Rodeo M266(?) axle to put in the back. It’s the metric D44 with thick ring gear disk breaks and limited slip from the factory currently geared 4.30:1. The axle is 63” WMS-WMS so will be going much wider but not FS width.

I missed the part of it being a super cab. I believe you're correct... no dual tanks on a super cab short bed.

Yes, factory dual tanks on a super cab short bed.

Mine's an '88 4X4. Blessed with 3 fuel pumps. I suppose someone COULD add the rear tank but it would be a major undertaking considering the extra wiring, selector valve on the frame, switch on the dash, vapor recovery, rear skid plate, etc. Spare tire mounted in the left front corner of the bed on a special bracket.

I have the two filler doors, and the tire mount bracket. Did Ford change the bed at all when they updated the front end for the ‘90? I know on the F150 they changed the wheel openings when they updated the front end.

Pretty sure all 1st & 2nd generation ('83-'92) beds will interchange, not sure about newer.

it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
I have had several short bed dual tank.

If I were to fit a system up to a original non dual tank truck ...I would use eb parts from wild horses.

If my rear tank ever stops working (I alternate tanks now) I'll go with an '89 single tank system w/ only in-tank high pressure pump. Yes, will lose some capacity but much, much simpler than aftermarket or Bronco II alternatives.

I have an 11, there is still a notch in the inside of the bed for the rear tank filler neck. I believe, besides the number of mounting holes, the inside of the bed stayed the same and only the skin changes for most of the years.
