Turns out I was right when I decided that the left line in this picture the one with the clamp on it is where someone tried to stop leak. It's a supply line going straight to the fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail. So now I need to cut both lines and reconnect them because there's no way I can get that connection separated without destroying it.

Ya. Been trying to contact the previous owner of this vehicle to see if I was right and he confirmed it today. I took this photo and showed it to him and he says yes the line with a clamp on it is the one that he tried to patch with J-B Weld. Took a while to track him down but I was finally successful. So now my plan is to cut that connection completely off and see about connecting reconnecting. I never worked fuel lines before this endeavor so that's why I don't know anyting about what's involved except for what you folks have helped me out with and it's been a big help I know the right direction I need to go. I can reconnect by using "AN".fittings..to connect braided to hardline. Thanks to all that have offered very good information. I love my Rangers. Especially the older ones. This one will roll again..I'm certain.. Maybe come spring she'll be ready. .

JUST REPLACE IT ALL! buy a fuel line kit, make new everything and be done. You could literally replace everything for like 50 bucks... Dorman, which i generally despise makes a kit with connections and like 20 feet of line...

I will check that out. Ive seen what your talking about that Dorman offers and seems like I'm getting stuff I wont use. Maybe not. This is as you know 5/16ths line. One half is braided and the other is hardline. I watched a feller show on YouTube exactly what to do in this same application. Braided to hardline. Thanks.
