I just remove my gas tank to replace the strap and leaf spring hanger and gas tank cross member because they where rusted....and what i found between the tank and the frame was awful...

now i am looking for the right way to replate the frame
I am thinking of cuting a 36" x 10" x 3/8" flat bar to fit inside the frame and weld it there and bolt the leaf hanger and cab suport throught all that....

I am also wondering if i should remove the reinforcement bracket that are welded there

does anyone as already done that? with picture?

If it were me, from what I read I would do the plate method, but instead of only bolting it, weld the edges of it (either the whole length, or the 3-4" sections, I don't know which would be better). Then on top of that, I would drill a series of 1/2" holes along the length of the new "support" section (before you put it in the frame), and weld those holes up so that you are not only welding the edge of the new section, but the middle as well.

I'm not saying that is HOW to do it, that is just how I would do it.
You might also consider doing the same thing to the other side so that the frame strength is more symmetrical.

there is already 12 bolt that will bolt it to the frame...leaf hanger and cab mount...plus weld it to the top and bottom and round the end to eliminate stress point...

Any other sugestion guy??
