I have a 84 ranger with a 2.8L 5 speed TK5. I bought this truck with the trans out and a new one in the box. I am working on the fly wheel at the moment. My question is, is there a spacer in between the crank and these flywheels? I know there is for the automatics (flex plate) but when I have the spacer in the ring gear it is about 3/4” to far from the starter. If I was to take it out it seems that it would line up correctly.

No, shouldn't be on a flywheel, only with a flex plate(automatic)

Ok should there be a bearing in the flywheel for the input shaft?

Yes, the pilot bearing
Should be changed each time you can access it

As should the rear main seal, before flywheel goes on, these are inexpensive parts that take ALOT of labor to get to if they fail

The location of the pilot bearing changed on these—it could be in the flywheel or the crank.
