So my dad called me this morning. He dropped the exhaust pipe on the truck getting on the interstate. I get there and find it broke right at the clamp going from the cat to the pipe that goes into the front of the muffler. Front meaning cab side of the muffler. So i managed to chain it up and got it home. Now we are left with what to do. Dad wants the cheapest and easiest fix. I personally want to use this as a reason to get the stock muffler out of there and put in a glass pack or some aftermarket muffler. Main reason i want to do that is i figure after 20 years this muffler has seen it's days. So what would yall say would be the easiest fix? This happened on my old ranger and we just bolted a glasspack up to the cat. So any thoughts or ideas are appreciated. If you need pictures let me know and i'll post some. What i have aren't the best because i really need to jack it up but being sick with a sinus infection i'm not digging that idea too much.

Gonna bump this with a picture. Currently have the exhaust chained and bolted together at the point where the flange broke. Don't ask how my dad done it, i have no clue but it's held together. Only problem is it's loud. Don't get me wrong i want my truck to sound like a truck but i want it to sound good like my old one did with the glasspack.

So with this picture how would you fix this? I'm most likely replacing the muffler while we are at it. Probably using a glasspack of some sort.

Yup, I fixed mine this winter. Same problem. Clamp rusted away, but cat pipe and muffler pipe were both OK. So I bought 2 repair clamps and bolted it together, with a new gasket. Stronger than new. Total cost: $30.

Disregard. For anyone curious about part numbers I found them.

2 1/4-2 1/2 Flange
29149 149

1 3/4-2 Flange
29169 169

Do you have the part number on the clamps? So far all i'm finding is expensive $30 a piece clamps at advance auto parts. I'll pay it if i have to just was curious what cheaper options are out there.
