Fitment question and opinion on tires?

Pretty sure it wont be an issue but a 29in diameter (235/75 equivlent) should be fine on the rear only of a 87 2wd correct?

Im not taking the chance this winter and am getting some 15 inch rims so i can mount some decent tires on the ass of rusty 2.0.

Im thinking about these....IIRC they are very similar to what i ran on rusty #1 bach in the 90s and it was unstoppable in the snow with these and some weight...didnt think they still made them...i think they are the same...or close...but either way...opinions?

I see they're only rated to 75mph... not sure they can handle the blistering speeds developed by the 2.9L.

8 ply tires on a ranger? those look like the old armstrong bias plys from 40 years ago. that’ll ride a bit rough. sure they will fit but hopefully your gears are low enough to handle them, 3.73 or 4.10, im debating on even getting my winter tires out this year, Just dont get the snow here we once did.

They should fit and would definitely get you noticed. At least by people who know anything about trucks...

you mean to tell us that Rusty 2 has not "self-clearanced" enough for 33's or 35's yet? I thought that was the whole idea behind letting them go rusty.

Yeah itd only be from pry thanksgiving to middle march or so.

I got 3.45s with a 2.9/5sp, i wouldnt think itd have any trouble with them.

Yeah, i was gonna get a set of goodyear wrangler radials (the cheapos that only come in a 235/75) but these are only 10 bucks more. Id really like BFs A/Ts cause i know they flat go in the snow....but at 130-150 a piece im thinking these power kings would be BF grip (or better) at the goodyear price. I am NOT battleing another snowstorm with these worthless GT radials from discount tire.

Maybe from a modern snow tire. But like i said im pretty sure those are what i had on rusty #1 back in the day...maybe not. All i (vaugely) remember is the tread pattern and i bought them at quality farm and fleet....circa mid 90s.

They pry are to much tire really for a ranger...but i can tell you if they work out good my 97 F250 is getting a set too.

Those Goodyear Wranglers are absolute trash. I've had several sets of them, by FAR the worst tire I've ever had. They dry rot and crack really bad after 4-5 years and something about the tread design makes them follow the little grooves on concrete highways - they pull you all over the place.

Check out these, I was looking for cheap tires and bought a set for my rust bucket. For $74/tire shipped I don't think you can beat it, they are an LT tire instead of a P like those Goodyears. My buddy has them on his Jeep and we are both very pleased with them so far.

I'm fairly certain I had those tires (or at least identical looking ones) on my 78' W350. The only thing I remember about them is them being so damn hard you could run over a penny and tell what year it was. Didn't need any fancy road hazzard warranty with those things. doubt you could put a hole in them with a .30-06

and being bias, youll have the “thump,thump,thump” of flat spots when it’s really cold out for a mile or so.
