My main question is what vehicle would have a single piece driveshaft roughly 66.75 inch from then center of U joints.
i have a 2000 explorer 5.0 awd auto in a 99 ranger extcab rwd t5 manual.
currently i will be using the rangers 7.5 rear end. unless swapping the 8.8 will fix my length issue.
i have the rangers (aluminum?) driveshaft witch is 64.5 inch the slip yoke is not the correct size and the tip would just barely touch the transmission.
i also have an old f150 single cab long bed steel driveshaft that is 69 inch and the slip yoke is the correct size with it bottomed out it cant go on the diff.
my best guess is that a shaft that is 66 would be enough with the f150 yoke. machine shop nearby quoted $350 to shorten a shaft with new ujoints.
what would be my cheapest route to get this done. im on a tight budget for now but i am so close to getting it running and driving after 3 years.
any help or suggestion is appreciated
