yup. im no backyard racing mower builder. i follow the rules/reg's and be legit haha.. my mowers are all custom built.
john deere started out as an 11hp mower. dad got it as a donor for his racing mowers so he took the engine, front/rear end and stuff. i got to thinking i'd grab it and toss a 16hp opposed twin that i had laying around in it, so thats whats in these pictures. i havent taken any recent pics of it but i will soon, handle bars arent in these pics but the mower is probably 80% done. a guy i work with had a 16hp v-twin vanguard horizontal shaft mated to a blown generator that i picked up for 100 bucks. originally was gonna put a 5 speed craftsman transaxle in it but plans changed when i got this V-twin that will be chain driven and direct drive. its got custom build handle bars, rear bumper, craftsman front end, brand new rubber in the front, squeeze grip throttle, adjustable steering and tie-rod linkages, etc.
here's a couple pictures of mine. i also have a Ford YT16 with a 12hp OHV in it, handles bars off an old 72' motoski 250 snowmobile, 5 speed transaxle, chopped down hood, custom handles bars, steering linkages, tie-rod etc, fully greasable front end, brand new rubber in the back, custom front bumper and hood hinge, custom rear bumper. this is an old picture too the mower still has its 18" rubber on the back i swapped them out for 16" rubber. straight piped exhaust, push button start, manual choke, break away type kill switch, fuel shut off valve, inline fuel filter.
now those were just mine, my dad also races too. he has a custom built 64' craftsman with an 18hp kohler single cyl in it, chain driven 5 speed. its a pretty quick little mower it will do 60mph. he also has a custom built lawnflite 12hp 5 speed transaxle. here's a pic of his 18hp, cant find a decent picture of his 12hp.
so what about you?? you build them by the rules and reg's also?? im always looking for ideas so post up some pictures.
