how strong is the t-case in theses? what are the weaknesses? and do they all have the option for 4low or is there some that are just straight awd?

they work but they are not the best. they have a viscous coupler in them instead of a hard mechanical link like the normal Borg Warner 1350s and 1354s which have a chain that connects the front and rear outputs.

i dont know about the low gear options for those transfercases. the write up in the tech library only has a ? for that bit of info.

i want the viscus coupler and not the hard link but not if it wont hold much over stock. i would like to make my future ranger plans awd for better launches since rangers like to spin with a built v8. and i want to keep it all ford but if i have to i would use something else.

there are no options for other tcases that will bolt in from other makes/manufacturers. so your building a AWD V8 Ranger? hmmmm.

where are you located? i just pulled the rear axle out of a 1997 V8 explorer. the heads are gone from the engine but the tranny/tcase are still there. it is a BW 4404 case.

oh and i just confirmed that the 4404 has no low range.

im in michigan. im not positive on the awd yet but it will be a v8 ranger i would like to use a 98 or newer ranger frame with a early 90s body(like the look better). im still in the air about exactly what im doing on everything but the engine. it seems everytime i think im ready to start something comes up. then i wanna change something. its been a viscous cycle. im in need of a garage now so i can start buying parts and strip them and keep what i need. i know nothing will be a bolt in if it comes from something else but im willing to fabricate whatever i have to to build my dream truck. thats why i wanna know what the 4404 will hold so i can plan to use that or find something that will work. hell i might start with that then change to something else when that blows.

thanks for the imput
