Have any of you guys installed an aftermarket exhaust yet?

I've been eyeballing the magnaflow (more mellow, less of a drone) but I'm curious to know what the forum thinks about the exhausts available.

Anyone have any sound clips?

I don't have a video right now but I put on the MBRP pre axle dump exhaust on mine. Has a deeper tone and not overly loud. Best 181 dollars i've spent in a while lol

I'm not even sure what is out there as of right now. Being that the engine is a force fed four banger, I'm not sure there is much out there that will make one sound good and not go the fart can route.

Hmm? I'd like to hear an audio clip of it as I tend to agree with sgtsandman. I have yet to hear an aftermarket exhaust that sounds better, on a 4 banger, than stock. The bigger the muffler, the lower / deeper the tone. And the stock muffler on the 5th gen Rangers is huge... and has a resonator.

So your saying the MBRB 3 cat back single turn down... (which looks like an old school "Thrush" muffler) ...

Has a deeper tone than this behemoth stock muffler?

I thought the rangers had fake exhaust noise in the cab anyway?

Not the low tech XL models like I have. We intentionally bought an XL.. but with a couple packages. You avoid a lot of the hokey hi-tech malarky.

I'm a V-8 guy.. I've got a couple rowdy awesome sounding old hot rods... I have yet to hear an awesome sounding banger motor. But I'm hoping somebody proves me wrong.

I remember that being mentioned before. I haven’t noticed it in mine but it is an XL with the STX and FX4 packages, so that may be why.

Maybe it’s just a feature on the XLT and Lariat models?

I remember someone saying the higher end models have more covers and insulation around the engine so maybe that's why they get the fake noise.

I read about why this whole fake engine noise started. When you insulate a car and engine so much that you don't hear anything you then you hear all the creaks and moans of everything else. And then people complain something is wrong. But it's really just the "white noise" the engine makes that covers up that stuff.

That and noise ordinance laws in the more populated regions.

Mine has it.

I enjoy the sound, honestly. It ain't obtrusive and doesn't sound like a video game car.

You mean like sticking a playing card in the bicycle spokes?

My world is filled with stuff that needs to be fixed
A small turbo engine can sound great - the factory 1.4L on my Fiat Abarth sounds fantastic. It has no mufflers or resonators, it’s just straight pipe with dual outlets. It’s loud but not buzzy,

Give 'yer balls a tug. Fight me.
Flowmaster flowfx was designed with FI in mind. I have one (granted, it's a single, not a dual, and on a n/a 2.9) and love it, would like to hear a single one on an EB. Challenger is going to get them, or thrush pipes next summer.

Keep in mind, cell phone speaker is going to make it sound buzzy, blah blah.

Paid $23 for the muffler itself, 180 in tubing. Good setup overall, very happy with it
