I was wondering if any one has ever swapped a extended can ranger on a Gen 1 explorer frame?

I know guys are sick of hearing it but extended cab isn't a Ford, Supercab is.
ex cab indicates you divorced it.

But where does "extended can" fit into things?

I've been thinking about similar recently. Doing a V8 swap on my 99 in the future. Body on the donor Explorer is shot with rust, but the frame looks solid. When I get done with the swap I'll have the frame left over and I have a first gen regular cab separaterd from the frame. I know that the explorer frame gets wider as it goes back, but was figuring to build a flat bed and chop the frame off right behind the rear spring hanger. The cab mounts wouldn't line up, but that was already a consideration given the years involved. Not sure what I'd use it for, maybe dump runs since it's a few miles down the road, possibly beating offroad if I put a 4x4 drivetrain in it.

Probably the best move is to scrap the Explorer frame and use the Ranger cab for parts like I was planning to.

I have had very impure thoughts if I ever come across a TTB Sport with a good frame/running gear.

A Land Rover Discovery is only like an inch or so off on the wheelbase and if not maintained had engine/transmission issues... with an aluminum body.

I'm not an off roader, I get enough of that during mud season every year but I think these are cool trucks. Myself, I'd build one as a 2wd with a V8, a T5, and a cut down styleside box. I'd use an SLA front suspension and lower it about 4" so it would corner better but still not drag on the ground. Years ago I saw a early 70's half cab Bronco in the parking lot at our hotel in Mechanicsburg during the Ford Nationals. He kept the 302 and C4, lowered the rear and used a Nascar front suspension. He came out of his room as my son and Iwere looking it overand told us about it. The license plate read "ODDROD" and I think it was from Va or the Carolinas. It had a good enough paint job to use as a driver, just the way I like 'em.
I had told myself I was done with big projects. Maybe not.
