BTW how do you think a 2.8 would look in Daytona yellow paint...a hint of things to come.

What happened to using the 289. Not run or would it be cheaper to find a running 302.
I have always been partial to the dark ford blue, not the lighter blue. Cat yellow would be kind of neat too...

The 289 has a scored crank, a scored piston, and the heads need checked out too while I am there, they might still have the iron valve seats. By the time you get the crank turned, the block bored, a set of pistons and gaskets and have the heads gone thru it is a fairly decent chunk of change.

But I heard a running 302 in a Grand Marquis for $50 on the radio I am thinking about, you can year it run. Then I duraspark it, slap on my 2bbl 289 intake manifold and go.

Sounds like the right thing and cheaper thing to do. Can't wait to see it get built.

I'd go for a 302; especially if the 289 needs work. Call junk yards.

I guess last rights may have been a little premature. I was kind of disgusted with it so I parked it. Drug it back out last weekend and started checking things... the oil was high. So I dropped it out and topped it off (didn't bother with the filter) and it is running as good as it ever has without spitting oil everywhere.

There must be some gunk in the dipstick tube that wipes the dipstick clean on ocassion, because come to think of it I did add about a quart before this all started because it read way low.
