Ok I have a 91 xlt ext cab and the door locks have stopped working. I only have the interior door switch (no key thing ) The power windows work fine. When I try to lock the doors from either side no click, no sound at all. Like they may not be getting any power. How do I troubleshoot this problem? Thanks for any info

start by checking fuses and relays. does the switch on the passenger door operate the locks, or are both switches inoperative?

There doesn't appear to be any blown fuses or relays. The passenger side switch wont work either, for a short while just the drivers side switch was working it locked both doors as it should. What I am trying to do here is get a remote since my daughter is driving the truck now. I assumed the door locks have to work as stock before you add anything to them.

yes the locks need to function normally before a remote lock kit can be added.

my next step would be to pull the drivers switch out and check for power both to and from the switch. if you dont have a wiring diagram, it might be worth your $15 to pick up a chiltons repair manual for your truck.
