trying to figure out which of my rigs would be better for one event i plan on racing. this type of racing will be totally new to me. i normally do deep mud aka trench racing with my B2. but the event im looking at doing is a 100yard, shallow (about 6" of mud) mud drag race.
hear are the specs.
the B2: 2.9l, manual trans, 4.56 gears, totally gutted for weight reduction.
the Ranger: 4.0 SOHC, auto trans, 4.10 gears, its my DD so its not gutted or anything.
i would run 35" Boggers on ether when the race comes.
i know the ranger has about 70hp and 70 torque over the B2, but dont know if that would be enough to make up for the much harder launch i could make in the B2 because of the manual transmission, or the gears.
what do you think would win?

As long as the clutch is in good shape I'd take it over the slush box!

Id say the opposite. That short of a run, shifting would definaly take more time in the mud. Plus that much more power in the ranger than the b2.... id definatly use the ranger.

I think i would take the ranger too, Brake torque it a little bit to get a harder launch (don't spin the tire, like tanner foust always does in a drag race) I think the ectra wheelbase will be nice when you get up to speed in the mud too.
