Crossed threads are tight threads.
Any custom and/or home made exhausts out there? I bought a bunch of 2.5" tubing, a muffler, some flanges/clamps/hangers, and plan on making my own cat back. Figure I I'd throw a post out there about in case anyone wanted to chime in. I got some pre bents in a 180 and a few 45's to cut and weld in for any twists and turns.

Looking to keep it as simple as possible, straight out and a sweep over to side exit before the tire. I converted to 1 piece driveshaft, so there's no need to bend around the center support crossmember

I dont think it would cause a heat effect being a slighlty tucked up straight piece where it usually bends under the ctr support crossmember

I heard weld rusts (faster), and will probably try to keep the welds to a minimum, and utilize clamps at the slip joints when/where feasible.

Not sure If I will tack and clamp in those places or just clamp and factor in hangers.

Figure I can hit welds with a rattle can of high heat or aluminum paint to fight rust (at least on the outside). There's probably exhaust specific paint out there....

I ordered a new set of spring bolts and the catcher nuts for the cat to exhaust pipe connecting flange while at it (mine were rusty and mangled) was about $25 for the set.

I may try to tech post about it if this all works out....

Super easy, cut off part of the flange at the end of the cat and expand a piece of tubing to go over or inside it, then your muffler, then another tube with a bend that goes out. Here's one I built that exits right before the passenger side rear tire on a shortbox single cab truck. Use your imagination as to where the cat would have been. It's upside down in the pic.

I weld all of my exhaust work, I feel that clamps promote rust because there is a lip that water can get under but that is just my opinion. I only use clamps for attaching straps or hangers.

I found a replacement ford flange, trying to preserve the old exhaust just in case. Gonna start fresh....The clamps rusting makes sense, Im gonna go with welds. Thanks for the input and pics, thats a nice lil pipe!
