Different cases, but same transmission?

have an explorer 4r55e and ranger 4r55e.
Cases are different

Also, will my overdrive still work?

1997 explorer 4.0 and 4r55e
1997 ranger 4.0 and 4r55e

a 4.0 wouldn't have a 4r44e.

a 44e would only be used on 3.0 or smaller engines.

I just realized that the explorer transmission also doesn’t have this piece.

The ranger transmission did

Blue looking one is original to the truck.

Filthy one is the explorer transmission

Those are from different years. Some years the iss sensor was mounted externally and other years it is internal. I forget which years go which way, but that appears to be the difference.
