So I have kicked around the idea before and I had finally decided to pull the trigger on getting at least one if not outfitting my fleet… about 10 minutes before an accident that it would likely have been helpful to have one. So now I’m slowly recovering and back to the idea that I need a dash cam.

That said, thought I would throw this out and see who has one and if they like it, what features they like or wish it had, that sort of thing. Good chance I’ll probably outfit my parents vehicles too once I figure out what I want.

I have one in my Ranger and one in my Focus. Insignia brand. I got them mainly to record the stupid stuff people do while driving. Got the first one with credit card points and the second one on ebay for $16. My only complain is if the vehicle sits for a few days you have to reset the date and time on the camera.

I bought a Rexing V1P for my wife's car, and I really like it. Has both front and rear cameras, and wifi connectivity to work with a phone app to quickly download videos. I recommend it.

I've tried several, and have had lots of problems with memory cards, saving, copying, reformatting, etc.

Looks like my next one will be a Garmin Mini 2. It's constantly recording, backs up a minute or two if an 'incident' occurs, and it uploads to the cloud. 24hr save is free, longer retention costs a few bucks a month.
