I'm trying to decide what direction I want to go with my 84 Ranger. It came to me 2wd, with a mild built 302 and C4 in it. With where i live and what I like to do, 2wd is highly impractical. Plans for the truck are DD it this coming summer and fall and blow the doors off every ricer punk in town hahah. Then next winter it goes under the knife. One of my buddies has a small block C6 and NP205 combo that will find a new home in my truck. What I want to do is a D44 TTB swap and build it to be a mild go-fast prerunner but still easily capable on trails and such. I've been reading up on the TTB swap and the widening each beam method is what I'm going to do, and likely a cut 'n turn at the same time. I've also read that pre 93 (or 90, can't remember) 2wd's had the same cross member and mounts as 4wd, is this true? Basically any input on this would be appreciated.

This is true on F150's. I'm not sure how it would fit in a ranger.

No 2WD Rangers used the 4x4 crossmember, you'll have to swap it if the 4x4 TTB axle brackets are to fit.
