Found these at the u-pull. Came from an F250 with a HD44 TTB. Anyone ever seen them before? They have teeth in between them.

Ratcheting nuts from older F150/250 TTB trucks. Seen em lots.

Here's the adjusting procedure:

Bronco and F-150 with Dana 44-IFS/HD Front Driving Axle with Manual Locking Hubs

  1. Raise the vehicle and install safety stands.

  1. Remove the hub lock assembly. Refer toManual Locking Hub Removal and Installation procedures in this section.

  1. Using a torque wrench and Spanner Locknut Wrench T86T-1197-A or equivalent apply inward pressure to unlock the adjusting nut locking splines, and turn the nut clockwise to tighten to 95 Nm (70 ft-lb) while rotating the wheel back and forth to seat the bearing.

  1. Apply inward pressure on the Spanner Locknut Wrench T86T-1197-A or equivalent to disengage the adjusting nut locking splines and back off the adjusting nut approximately 90 degrees.

  1. Retighten the adjusting nut to 20-27 Nm (15-20 ft-lb). Remove the tool and torque wrench.

  1. Check that the final end play of the hub and rotor on the spindle is 0.00 mm (0.00 inch).

  1. Torque required to rotate the hub and rotor assembly is not to exceed 2.3 Nm (20 in-lb).

  1. Install the hub lock assembly as described in this section.

  1. Remove the safety stands. Lower the vehicle.

Thank you sir. Why did Ford stop using them? Seems like they would be a hell of a lot better than the nut washer nut setup.

They didn't really stop using them.....they just kinda picked and chose which vehicles got em. The shop manuals have adjusting procedures for both styles of locking nuts plus the auto hub nuts.

They are the same thing that has been used on rear full floaters for ever.
