Hello all,

Found that I have a cracked carrier on the rear Toren differential while I was changing the pinion bearing on my 2003 FX4 Level 2. I check the Toren website and was happy to see that they have the FX4 replacement differential on sale. I called their number and was told that number was no longer in service. In addition, approximately 6 months ago, I wrote to them inquiring about a Torsen differential for the front (Dana 35 SLA), but never received a reply.

Question: Has anybody recently had success contacting Toren Traction? I'd like to know that they are still in operation before I order something on their website.

Cheers,
Tom

I can't help other than to tell you the name is spelled Torsen.
I fixed the title.

For ~$3-500 off, I would probably just place the order on Torsen's site with a virtual card, keep an eye on it, and do a chargeback within the time limit if I never got any parts or communication.

I wouldn't sweat not getting an e-mail back about front LSD availability. If you click the D35 SLA product, it says they're making a run and they'll be available next year. I doubt whoever answers the e-mails can tell you much more than that.

It has been a couple of years since I tried but the number on the web site worked then. As far as the LSD for the front differential, it looks like they plan on doing a run in the beginning of 2025, according to their site. Since they do such limited runs on that thing, I would try to email them or contact them in some way and get your name on the list. I don't know if they have a page on facebook or not, but you could try there as well.

Iron Tom, I have a very rare leak at pinion seal area of my 4.10 / 31 spline, 8.8 Torsen. Thought it was the seal, also keeping the fluid fresh changing it every 2 years. Never thought of looking for any housing cracks however. Q: can you post a picture of the crack if possible? Also what ratio is yours? Need to install a cover with a drain plug~ Thx, Doug

Hello all,

Sorry for the late reply...
alwaysFlOoReD thank you for correcting the spelling of Torsen 👍

After posting my question to this group, I emailed their parent company Jtekt and sent another email to Torsen Traction... still no reply.

I bit the bullet and made the purchase on-line (knowing that I can always cancel the charge card transition). To my surprise, on the second morning after placing the order, a brand-new Ford Ranger FX4 Torsen Differential, Part Number 975420-9703A was delivered :yahoo:

I'm installing it now.

MaicoDoug, you asked for a picture, here it is.
