Hi there. I just replaced the lower intake manifold gasket on my ranger 2 days ago (info in avatar). As is so often the case, the bolts were loose. Put everything together, plugged everything back in. BAM-running in failure mode and coding 998.... Operating in failure mode. It won't give me anything (no flashes whatsoever) on the key on engine off test. It runs great until it gets warmed up, then CEL comes on and it'll die if I'm not careful from a stop and it takes a couple minutes to get it going again (happened halfway into an intersection on the way home from work). So my truck and I have both had much better days.
Everything is plugged in properly, everything was torqued to spec and my only thought is the fuel rail was a bugger to get on again, as the o-rings didn't want to slide in no matter how much oil I put on them. Something this massive makes me suspect a connection to the ECM, or the computer itself. What do you guys think?
Any help is greatly appreciated, the Fairbanks bus line is almost a mile away and it'll be cold going walking there to get to work tomorrow!
