My credo
My world is filled with stuff that needs to be fixed
The load on the alternator is almost entirely electrical, other than the friction from the belt on the pulley and maybe a bit from an internal fan if it has one.

I’m glad I have schematics from several years around my Ranger’s, as that way I can get a consensus among all the various errors and sort of guess what they actually meant.

Honda did that with the CR-V as well. It will turn the alternator on and off. It threw people through a loop at first until they figured that out.

When the alternator is generating a charge to charge the battery, there is more resistance than when it is just spinning with no load.

Anybody with non LED offroad lights, you can notice a change in idle RPM with the big lights on.

My Hellas change the idle on both my trucks... via the alternator.

My credo
Doing things wrong, until I get it right.
My stoopid Hyundai Santa Fe has the system that constantly runs off the battery. Impossible to jump my corolla off by using the Santa Fe. Had to get the 3year old WalMart battery out of the Ranger to crank the car, then put the bad battery back in to charge up. I really do not like this SUV(?) and will be getting rid of it ASAP (4 years from now probably)
