GM trucks have a reputation for weak front suspensions. I can't say that is true across the line but I know it's a thing with the 1500s and the S-Series trucks.

If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
We got $250 plus the towing away for it. There were no parts on it I wanted except the transfer case but they are a dime a dozen and I only had yesterday to get what I wanted and send it away before the code enforcement officer saw it.

Last I looked transfer cases were a tad more than "dime a dozen".
More like $1200.00 plus $400.00 core charge

I just found 6 used ones on 1 google search for less that $200. There is no 2000 Chevy S10 worth a $1200 rebuilt transfercase

I'll double that if you ship all 6! :D
The s10 my brother gave my mom was worth it.
Not sure what happen to it, after she died my sister used it, she was driving a tractor trailer then, I never knew where it went after that

My GF’s truck is up and running again. For whatever reason GM put the caliper bracket bolts in with red loctite. I couldn’t even budge it with heat and there is no room to get a socket and impact on the top bolt without taking the upper control arm out. I finally had to cut the bolt heads with a sawzall. The caliper brackets had to come out to replace the rotors.

So the front brakes are done courtesy of Powerstop via rockauto.

replaced the heater hoses and that fixed the coolant leaks. Tightened ALL the oil lines and transmission lines (there are a lot).

now it needs cv axles, steering gear, tie rod ends, and ball joints. Then front end is done.

gonna attempt the rear brakes tomorrow just to see what I need and I’m going to pick up some u-joints for spares.

It wasn't worth anything for parts?
He got $300 scrap price for it. He’s been driving my Jeep to work while he saves for his own car since my brother gave me his Camry (long long story, 347,000 miles and has only been serviced by Toyota)

I get it. My Road Ranger started as a 305.000 mile one owner. Faded paint, but everything else was damn near like brand new. Better shape than a lot of 50 60,000 mile things I’ve seen.
