Hey guys I am still having a little trouble with my 86 Bii running a little rough but mostly lacking power and sucking gas, been leaning towards the cats getting clogged up, the exhaust is starting to get smelly at high speeds? When driving short distances its not very noticeable but when I hit the highway or long trips, it's like I got the exhaust pipe coming up in the cab, choking me out. I was wondering cause i crawled under there if there is two cats or the first one with the duel pipes is that just a connector or are there two cats on these trucks? Any one else had cat problems? Should I cut them off or drill/vacuum them out for now? Need a quick fix, gonna get a whole new duel exhuast set in the summer time. Thanks for the help.

Unless they're glowing red, they're fine, 86 trucks didn't have check engine lights so you could have an issue that you can't see, pull codes and see what you get.

Oh gotcha thanks, yeah not sure they're glowing red, but i sure need to get a code puller or just a multimeter. Soon but currently broke cause of rent due and just buying another ranger lol.

a test light or analog multimeter will give you the same results as a cheap "beep box" style tester. You must use an analog multimeter because the sample rate on a digital one usually isn't high enough to properly give you the codes
