Well....I forgot to pay attention to a simple thing: I ran all new brake everything on my chassis while I had the cab off.
Cab is back on, and I cannot recall weather the brake line to the FRONT brakes attaches to the forewardmost fitting on the master cylinder or to the rearwardmost (firewall side) fitting.
So...have a good laugh at me, and PLEASE answer correctly!

On my '97 ( http://imgur.com/a/sUnMy ), the FRONT brake lines attach to the MC rear port (closer to firewall), and the REAR brake lines attach to MC front port (furthest from firewall). IOW, they're backwards. Also, on mine, the MC port going to the FRONT lines is 12mm diameter (ie, large), whereas the MC port going to REAR lines is 10mm (ie, smaller).

As it was explained to me...
The FRONT do most of the braking, so the larger bore (plunger inside the MC) is devoted to the front wheels. The smaller bore section within the MC is further AWAY from the firewall (due to manuf. technique) and so that's why the MC port for REAR lines is usually further away from firewall (ie, backwards).

I suspect your older Ranger is similar.

Hmmm.....I NOW have both lines the same size, yet not attached to the MC. The Front port DOES take a larger diameter fitting. The Rearward (firewall side) fitting is smaller and EITHER of my new lines will thread into it.
Now I'm confused! HELP!!!!

Just checked my '92--the smaller port is in the front, and goes to the rear brakes. The bigger port is closest to the firewall, and goes to the front brakes.
