I don't count birthday's anymore...just happy to be looking down at the ground instead of looking up
It apparently has something to do with disabling the Parking Assist Audible Alarm when a trailer is being towed or the tailgate is down. It appears that when something is blocking the rear sensors, an alarm will continually sound, and it looks like this button disables the alarm.
Not pictured in the "Parking Assist" section in your manual, but it is mentioned.

Yeah, you can also look over your right shoulder, and, WOW, figure out, "I am towing a trailer" (in case you forgot it was back there ).
But seriously, a constant audible alarm would be a pain, so I could see a button to disable it.
Don't know if the Parking Assist is standard equipment, if it is the mute button would be great.
My 2009 Base Ranger has something very similar to the audible alarm when backing up...Its a voice yelling "OH SH_T" just before I hit something and slam on the brakes. Works every time !

Do the new rangers have the dumb electric parking brakes? The edge does and that is a big button with a "P" on it...

Nope, they have a cable that pulls a lever to actuate the rear caliper piston. I'm glad they didn't go that route.

What!?! You mean you don't like the idea of needing a $400 scan tool to change your rear brake pads?
