My credo
If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.

Can I assume yours will be aluminum?

Aside from a racing application, mostly useless. The OEM one does great and I see little performance gain.

I'm not trying to gain power or anything...I can just get one made for less then half the cost of buying an Oem one...just not sure if it'd be to fragile.

Fragile? Just use a good grade of alum like one of the 60xx's seriers. We made skid plates out of some of that stuff for our dirt bikes and really tough.

That will look really cool. You can just get them used you know? But, if you wanted a tricked out engine compartment...that is the way to go!!

March Pullys has all kinds of them for the Ford V-8's and the 3.8L, all highly polished alum. Here's what they list for material their site:

All kits are machined from 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum, and then we hard coat all high wear surfaces to increase pulley life. Hardened to 65 Rockwel “C” scale. Harder than steel, two times harder than forged aluminum!
